Longchamps has played a great part in the history of aviation in Argentina. From this are, Longchamps, the first official Argentinean flight took place on February 6th, 1910, flown by Henry Bregi in a "Voisín."
Today, Longchamps is connected to the city of Buenos Aires through the General Roca Railway that also connects the Constitucion station with Glew and Alejandro Korn.
After Juan de Garay founded the city of Buenos Aires for the second time, he divided the lands among his soldiers. One of these soldiers was Francisco Zamora, the first occupant of Lomas de Zamora. After his death, his grandson sold the terrain to the Jesuits, who were later expelled from the area.
